Blue Gnus Performance

Blue Gnus at Bayou Bend

The Blue Gnus is a long standing Houston tradition in the Young Audiences catalogue. We have been teaching jazz history through our performances in school programs for almost twenty years now. This past Sunday we were part of the Family Day celebration at Bayou Bend where we gave a version of our program that leans more heavily on the music side with less of the speaking that would typically accompany our school performances.

The members of the band at Bayou Bend were Martin Langford on woodwinds, Ed Lowe on trombone, David Craig on bass and Joe Slezak on drums (I was playing trumpet, of course).

50th Anniversary

On Saturday night, Ed Lowe and I also worked together in the David Caceres band for the 50th anniversary party for Rochelle and Sheldon Oster.

With these two gigs behind us I can say that the season has officially begun. Looking forward to doing some more playing over the next few months.
