This duet book is, as far as I understand, the most common duet staple in the American trumpeter’s musical diet. If there are “standards” in the niche world of trumpet duets, the second volume of the Voxman duets sits at the top of the list.
Today there seem to be so many trumpet duet books to choose from, which is in stark contrast to even ten years ago when duet books seemed hard to come by. In the process of doing research for my own duet book, Celebrations, I acquired and read a great many of the duet books on the market. Still, the Voxman second volume stands out as being one of the most enjoyable to play.
I have fond memories of playing these duets at Andress High School in El Paso with my good friends, Jawn Glass and Leslie Townsend. Playing duets was one of our favorite past times, and the Voxman book was even a favorite then. It is perfect for high school and early college level players.
