One The Sea by Felix Mendelssohn
Here is a wonderful recording of a brass quartet featuring Herbert L. Clarke and Emil Keneke on cornet, and Fred Schrader and Howard Rattay on trombone. The Library of Congress has made an entire treasure trove of historic recordings available to us and it would be a shame not to soak up as much of it as possible.
For me this has been a special treat because the recording I’m working on right now is all music from this era. So it’s nice to hear the players of that time present the music in that style.
I promised I would be writing more about the recording later. That’s still coming. I sort of got sidetracked with these lovely time capsules.
